What is OPC?

OPC, short for Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins, encompasses a group of plant substances primarily found in grape seeds, but also in apples and the bark of maritime pine trees. As part of the flavonoid family, they are distinguished by their outstanding antioxidant properties.

Beyond its antioxidant effect, OPC brings numerous health benefits. It strengthens and increases the elasticity of blood vessels, which in turn supports cardiovascular health and promotes optimized blood circulation. The skin also benefits from OPC, as it improves elasticity and contributes to a firmer, more youthful complexion. Additionally, OPC has anti-inflammatory effects, making it an important element in promoting overall health.

The numerous health benefits of OPC are supported by a comprehensive collection of scientific studies that have thoroughly researched and confirmed its positive effects on the body. These well-founded insights highlight the importance of OPC as part of a balanced diet and in supporting a healthy lifestyle.

What is resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a naturally occurring compound mainly found in the skin of red grapes, as well as in berries and peanuts. As a member of the polyphenol family, Resveratrol impresses with its strong antioxidant properties. It effectively combats free radicals, thereby helping to reduce oxidative stress and age-related ailments.

In addition to its antioxidant properties, Resveratrol promotes cardiovascular health. It improves the function of blood vessels and can contribute to reducing the risk of heart diseases. Resveratrol is also highly valued for its positive impact on overall well-being.

The substance is also associated with anti-aging properties. Studies show that it can support health at the cellular level by influencing the activity of certain genes related to aging.

Extensive research on Resveratrol confirms its wide range of health benefits. As a result, Resveratrol has established itself as a valuable addition to a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Bioavailability

Active ingredients from medicinal plants have very low water solubility. Such substances can be absorbed extremely poorly by our body into the systemic bloodstream. Therefore, very high doses of extracts from medicinal plants are often used in clinical studies in order to achieve therapeutic effects. In addition, the extracts are usually in a form enriched with active ingredients, or directly isolated active ingredients are used in high doses. Simple dietary supplements normally have too low a concentration of active ingredients to achieve any significant physiological effect. Why is this so? It is not uncommon for the active ingredients contained in medicinal plants to be subject to numerous “absorption barriers”, as a result of which 95–99 percent of the active substances taken perorally cannot reach the systemic bloodstream. Highly fat-soluble active ingredients distribute very poorly on the absorptive surface of the small intestine, which greatly reduces the likelihood of their absorption. Another factor contributing to the low uptake of such compounds is the “first-pass effect” of the liver. Enzymes are secreted in the liver that recognize and break down such fat-soluble compounds. This is a protective function of our body to keep potentially dangerous substances from entering the systemic bloodstream. In addition, many active ingredients are very unstable in the acidic environment of the stomach and are already eliminated during stomach passage. The percentage of an active ingredient that can be absorbed into the systemic bloodstream in its unchanged, biologically active form is referred to as being “bioavailable”. The bioavailability of curcumin, for example, is only about 0.5 percent, which means that correspondingly high doses must be taken for a therapeutic effect.

For this reason, Jala-Life goes the “water-soluble route”! We enclose high-quality plant extracts in water-soluble transporters. In this form, the active ingredients contained in the extract can be quickly and efficiently absorbed by the body. We achieve this without the use of piperine, synthetic additives or other questionable absorption enhancers. Our water-soluble transporter system releases 95–99 percent of the ingested active ingredients into the systemic bloodstream of the body, where they can act unhindered. This system also enables the intake of even very small doses to be completely sufficient, which does not unnecessarily burden the body with constant degradation processes.

OPC, resveratrol and vitamin C is the perfect combination!

Why vitamin C?

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that is indispensable for numerous bodily functions. It is primarily known for its role as a powerful antioxidant and helps to neutralize free radicals. It therefore makes a significant contribution to protecting body cells from the damaging effects of oxidative stress. This property supports the antioxidant effects of OPC and resveratrol, enhancing the protective effect against cell-damaging radicals.

In addition, vitamin C plays a crucial role in collagen formation, which is important for the health of skin, bones and joints. The combination with OPC, which also supports skin health, and resveratrol, which promotes vascular health, makes our product a powerful support for physical well-being.

In addition, vitamin C is essential for strengthening the immune system, as it contributes significantly to supporting the body's defense functions and increases overall resistance to infections. It promotes the function and activity of immune cells, which, in combination with the immunomodulatory properties of OPC and resveratrol, contributes to increased support of the immune system.

Together, OPC, resveratrol and vitamin C provide a powerful combination to boost the immune system, promote cellular health and support overall well-being.
